Great Smoky Mountains National Park May 28, 2013 tacti Leave a comment It was a 3 days weekends, so we had a short trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Day 1 First state, Kentucky. Then, cross the border to Tennessee A quick lunch stop at “Sweet P’s”. Great BBQ. I loved the side dish, “Green’n things”, basically colored green and some other vegetables. We entered the park from Townsend, Peaceful side of smoke looked at some old (meaning really old) houses, Then off to our first hiking.There are a lot of beautiful trails. Waterfall after 2.5 miles of hiking Dinner at another BBQ restaurant. Bennetts in downtown Gatlinburg. Day 2 We stayed at a cabin just outside of Gatlinburg. Lil’ Cabin in the Woods. Clean, roomy, very nice cabin. We really loved it, and HIGHLY recommended! Breakfast at Log Cabin Pancake House loved the meal, loved the southern accent! Driving through the park. scenery roads with a lot of pull offs… just.. way too many cars… (and we were one of them… lol) Tennessee/N.Carolina border the famous Appalachian Trail go through the park. Watch tower at the highest point in Tennessee. We did more hikes to go see a few more waterfalls. most falls are small, but beautiful. Day 3 Last hiking before we leave the park. this hiking trail goes behind the waterfall. beautiful drive through the forest back on our way home. we stopped at a mexican restaurant for dinner. very spicy, but tasted good seems very authentic Tacos. We stopped at Indianapolis to drop off our friend. And as always… no welcome sing at Ohio border…. Share on Facebook
