This is the second time for me joining Time Trial, and this year, I brought out my big gun.
The Watermelon (92′ NA Miata) has been back on dirt (Rallycross), so the Spoon (99′ NB Sports) gets the track stop treatment this year (basically I swapped the coil over from the Watermelon to the Spoon… ). Neither of them are prepped for the Tuner Category they are in, but somehow I did well enough to grab the 1st place in T5 class out of 6 drivers. Currently the car is setup as Solo E-street except for the stiffer springs. I probably would like to have a wider wheels (currently 205 on 6.5″ wheels, and it is pinched!) and racing seats (hold me better, and also lighter) for the next year. There are a lot more I can do, like intake/exhaust, tune, control arm etc for better alignment, but better fitted wheels/tires, and better seat will make driving more fun, and that’s more important for me than going faster at the moment. Also it’s always good to run as underdog, which gives me excuse not winning, and if I do win, it brings me even more joy!

For this event I tried my new data logging setup, RaceChrono, Racebox, OBDLink, and GoPro. Unfortunately the constant connection between the RaceChrono and GoPro drained the camera battery way too faster than I expected, and I didn’t even have the video of the first lap of the first session… 🙁 The lesson learnt and now I got a hardwiring kit for the next year…
