Or what ever that Initial D taught us about the throttle control… well, I do’t have it!
Recently added Race Box Mini S (Race Box Mini supposed to be fine/cheaper), OBD2 MX+, and Race Chrono Pro app to my Autocross data logging, to see how I’m driving and what are the things I’m doing wrong… (didn’t go with Solo Storm, since this setup seems to be simpler and and more than anything, it is much cheaper than the Solo Storm setup… 😉
I have tried Solo Storm before, but I’ve never been a fan of android OS, and also without me having a mental capacity to analyze my runs between runs, I couldn’t justify the cost of the Solo Storm app. Race Chrono was recommended by my fellow competitor and it seemed much easier interface and only 20 bucks… (as the time of writing this). The hardware setup and the app delivered exactly what I needed. showed me what I’m doing wrong…
Once upon a time, a fast driver in a famous comic/anime told another fast driver that you gotta have 10 levels of throttle control. or something like that…
The graph above is my throttle input from the last Autocross event, and I definitely have digital right foot. either On or Off. also I have a bad habit of stubbing the gas pedal in mid turn. (or if I want say it cooler, I’m doing what Senna was doing, just in less precise and also too slow way…. I should instead, use partial throttle through the turn, and have more smoother transition from acceleration to the brake.
I did know I’m not having a good throttle control and have this throttle stubbing tendency already in back of my head, but seeing it right in my face as a graph, it is quite eye opening….. welp… now I have something to work on….
