Part of getting ready for our summer trip to Yellowstone/Grand Teton National Park is to figure out how I gonna carry canoes from an outfitter in Jackson to the Snake River in Grand Teton.
One of the highlights (gonna be…) is to float/paddle down the calm part of the river just under Jackson Lake Dam and watch wildlife. The canoe rental within park only allow their canoes to be on Jackson Lake, but I really like the idea of floating down the river. Our Highlander has factory roof rack, but it won’t be enough to carry two canoes, one of us and one for our parents. I either put longer crossbar or add a hitch and tow a canoe carrier. After shopping at my favorite place, Craig’s List, this is what I found.
Thule mount for factory rail (don’t know the model…) with 58″ bar.
Test mounted on already and it works great!. Only thing is that I need to get a pair of locks to keep it from theft.
I still need to plan things to do in Yellowstone NP. Thinking of Horseback riding, and a lot of hiking!
does anyone have recommendation on what to do in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National park?
FS: Thule 750 Foot Pack w/ Fit Kit 1039 for 98-04 Audi A6/S6
With the above rack system, I also get Thule Traverse 750 Foot Pack (the link is the newer version Rapid Traverse) with Fit Kit 1039 (for Audi A6/S6 98~04). If anyone interested, please let me know on the FB or just by leaving comment. All you need is a set of load bars. (I think this 750 kit was an european kit, so regular square bar does not work. it looks like it’ll work with this
We were in yellowstone two years ago, and did some driving around as well as hiking. We wanted to go horse back riding but didn’t make it because none of the horse place was open.
Hiking was a lot of fun, and be sure to bring A LOT OF memory cards for the cameras, scenery there was just breathtaking!
