Cincinnati region SCCA hosted 2016 season opening, Fun Event at Wilmington Airpark.
It was very very cold day (It was 28*F when I got there and probably only went up to upper 40s or maybe 50 at most…), but after months of hibernation, I just couldn’t be happier being behind the wheel!
This was also my first event with the new-to-me 1999 Mazda Miata I just picked up this winter.
The car handled amazingly well, except for how I drove, I was kept locking up the front brakes. However, after having a few very experienced drivers drove my car, I can probably fix that with the driver mod. Also I just could not get my time to be consistent. I guess I just need some time to get used to my car…
Our first Point Event is coming up this weekend, and I can’t wait to see what I can do comparing to other drivers in Street Open Class.
Current setup is as followed.
1999 Mazda Miata Sports Package
Bridgestone RE71R 205-50-15 (from last season)
Bilstein Custom Valved Shocks (from my NA Miata, for now)
AWR Front Sway Bar and brackets
OEM front brake pads, Hawk HPS rear pads
I also did change all Fluids as part of maintenance
Redline MT90 Transmission Fluid
Redline 75w-90 Differential Fluid
BradPenn 10w-30 oil
New radiator (not upgrade, but just was time for replacement)
Special Thanks to Jeff Loewe for a great picture!
