NICT DAEDALUS, Network Security Software from Japan

NICT (National Institute of Information and Communication Technology), developed cyber attack alert system named DAEDALUS. It utilizes previously created alert system called NICTER and network monitor systems, and display the security threats in 3D graphics.

In above image, the center sphere indicate “Internet”, and surrounding circles indicate Networks being monitored. Each lines indicate network traffics, and the red and yellow Letter “警” indicate warnings. Operators can view the image from any angle, zoom in to scopes, and when you click on the warning, it will show what triggered the warning message.

There are network monitoring system already exists, however, how this software visualize the threats are very cool. It’s almost look like SF anime/movies from my childhood…
