We needed to reschedule the cabinet delivery that we initially scheduled before thanks giving due to the delay in tile delivery (it actually worked out because of such a bad imperfection of the concrete sub floor. We needed to spend a lot of unplanned time flattening the floor…), and not it costed us… the installation clue wasn’t available for the first week of December, and we needed to wait one week without doing much before we could finish everything else…
So we put our Christmas tree up. Every year, my wife and I pickup an ornaments at places we go, and add to our tree. It’s a joy to see and think about the time and places we went togetherI did Christmas lights just in time before our first snow…I installed the double towel bar, and grab bar outside the tilesThe towel rack over the toilet. wanted something like the one found in hotel bathroom. The towel rack over the toilet. wanted something like the one found in hotel bathroom.
12/09/2013 Vanity cabinet is installed by the cabinet guys. exactly the color we like!
The pantry has some imperfection in paint, so one door panel was sent back to be re-sprayed. Also it was not attached to the wall yet because of un-plumbness of the wall. They brought me a filler piece next day.
12/10/2013 Measure, cut and fitted the filler piece and then screwed the cabinet to the wall.
The granite is here! we picked the stone at their shop. though the color looks slightly different under our lights, we love the color and pattern of the piece!I decided to wait for Rick to be back next day to cut the crown molding (technically it’s not a crown, but has some specific name for something small molding like this…)
12/11/2013 Those towel bar and shelf are also grab bars. Screwed into the blocking that we installed before placed cement board and tiles, so they are as secure as it can be.
Curved shower curtain rods and corner shelves are installed as well. The reason I waited to install those items on tile is that I was afraid of cracking the tile when I drill holes. Rick told me how to, and i installed all of them while he was installing the plumbings for the vanity sink.Rick installed the plumbings and faucets for the vanity.SWMBO had her term paper and stayed up all night (literary), so I stayed up with her, kept working on installing hardware. When I finished installing vanity glass shelves, mirrors, and also caking the tub surround around 4:30 in the morning, I couldn’t stayed up with her anymore and passed out on the couch…
I also installed the rest of base board tiles, but forgot to take pictures….

Ash, one of our chinchilla was not acting like usual, so we took her to vet, along with Mocha (the other chin) just for check up. We came back with Antibiotics, now facing a huge challenge of how we gonna feed it to Ash… anyhow, when we got home, I was pretty much ready to pass out from lack of sleep… so no work done…
12/13/2013 – 12/22/2013
Between SWMBO’s business trip and our chinchilla in vet, I was slacking off and didn’t do much till the 12/21 weekend… During the week, I painted the bedroom side wall, installed cabinet knobs, and a lot of cleanups. We also did touch up on other doors around the house since we got open paint anyways!
So, please continue to the tour of our new bathroom!
